When travelling meets art and entertainment – Kala Ghoda Art Festival 2019

It was just another weekend and all I was craving was a break. Reading through some nearby places and events to visit, I came across an event which was happening over a weekend in Mumbai.(perfect timing wink wink).

This event  has always topped my must-visit list since I was aware about it.

Mumbai has always been the nearest and the fastest station I could afford to go to.

Mumbai at night

The name of the event that I went for was Kala Ghoda Arts Festival that takes place every year in Mumbai in the month of February. Though the dates keep changing, it is always consistently held in February.

We went over the weekend as it is the most efficient way to sacrifice my limited amount of holidays. Also, strategic holiday planning is a must when you are working in a corporate environment.

The travel to Mumbai for Kala Ghoda Art Festival

We took an overnight train and were in Mumbai at about 11 am reached mumbai at about 11 the next day . Then we took some rest and we headed to the festival in the evening at about 7 pm. Perfect timing to avoid the scorching mumbai sunny day.

Travel Tip: Taking cheap accommodation is recommended if you do want to visit all the venues at the festival, they are all within walking distance , but  not all at one place.

Hostels like Zoostel  is an excellent and affordable option to stay in the heart of Mumbai.

How lit was the event?

We reached the venue and  such colorful decorations, it was so vibrant and visualling! It was definitely a haww moment for me.

My camera and me were all set and I was out clicking, it wasn’t just me who was clicking but there were influencers, photographers, vloggers, youtubers. Basically, all different people and professionals who are into or interested in art.

Car and doodles are a awesome combination.

There were an array of shops and artifacts at display.

I literally wanted to buy everything but ended up buying tea coasters , some funky graphic tshirts and a cute toy that was trending at the festival.

The mighty colorful artifact.

All the details about the events and venues was readily available on the main festival website (link). Also, the social media channels of the festival are pretty responsive in terms of getting back to the audience out there.

If you’re hungry just grab something from the many fancy as well as street food options available here.

Chinese Bhel was so so spicy but yummy
Daym, this crispy pizza.

My overall experience was amazing as visiting this event was always on my list.

We left the next day and was a lovely mini escape from a busy schedule.

Abstract and amazing.

See you until a next adventure!
