Nature is indeed the best way to ground oneself, and living in Goa, it has all been about experiencing this healing. In between all the chaos and life, we decided to take a much needed break (sometimes, you just know you need a break).
We planned for a visit at this spice farm situated almost near the border areas of Goa.
Pascal Farm in situated at Khandepar, Ponda, opposite Nestle and towards the Belgaum Road and this whole stretch is already very luscious with greens.
So the road trip was peaceful and calming in it itself.
We left home early and got to the place about 10:30 am, it was May first , a holiday, so there was a lot of crowd and more to come.
About the place
Pascal spice village is a technically a farm and is stretched across a huge area and is the one of the oldest establishment. The farm is divided in:
1) a outdoor event area where usually a lot of wedding receptions take place,
2) a sitting area near the river,
3) a spice plantation,
4) pool areas
5) Indoor nursery and more
For a day picnic or even a weekend stay they are a perfect getaway,
To enter the place, you need to buy a day pass which costs about 500-700 /- as per how much time and what all areas you would be staying at. Once you have the pass, you can enjoy around the farm. We met the owner and got into some pretty deep conversation, he spoke to us on topics like “Why agricultural set businesses is a risky business” , how he enjoys being at the farm and meeting new people. We spoke literally for an hour or more. He runs the place with hes two sons now and told us that being among nature is the best thing since hes retirement.
The place also offers a indoor nursery (a huge one) with a wide range of local and exotic plant species. There are numerous flowering, fruits and ferns that you can buy here.
We had our lunch and rested for some time, had long conversations and moved to our next location, Valpoi.
We were visiting valpoi, in search of some nice pottery pieces and we were guided by a local. We did not find exactly what we were looking for but managed to find something close enough.
We did purchase a few pieces, interacted with the locals and enjoyed our way back. One the way back we spotted a dam and such a pleasant and grounding experiencing in between the vastness of this place. There were lot of tourists visiting this place that got us eager to know what the place was all about.
Life gets pretty tough and crazy, but we have got to be crazier.
The one thing that I am trying to practice is non attachment. Practicing neutral behavior i.e good or bad, we savor both the same way. And not be too caught up with any thoughts.
More than anything, living in the present is very important, neither time passes so fast, that you don’t really understand how it went by so quick.
I’ve also realized that everyone is on their own timelines, the stresses and pain one undergoes is unknown to the world until they share it. Some suffer in silence, some don’t want to see someone sad because of their pain. Its a lot of lot many things actually.
Also, since it the season of fresh cashews , we didn’t hesitate to stop by. While they had cashews, I shot the cashews. Living in Goa has been a peaceful experience by itself, no place Id rather stay. This short trip was indeed a breathe of fresh air during a hot sunny day,
Until another spontaneous trip to somewhere beautiful.
Stay safe, stay out of trouble.
