A very berry escape: Strawberry farm Goa

Vibrant and yummy strawberries

Usually, my family starts out early in the morning for most of our travel journeys,, but this one started at 8 am which was definitely late for us! I had heard a lot about this place where they cultivate strawberries in Goa – yes you heard it absolutely right! It was strange for us too when we heard about it. So randomly one Saturday we decided to head out to this place.

The journey to the place was really a bumpy ride as the roads were very steep. Took us about an hour and a half to get there from where we set out – we reside in the South of Goa.

About the place

This place is a small nursery where strawberry herbs are grown, not a huge piece of land, but super calming and perfect for nature lovers and adventurers.

To get here, you have to cross the Bhagwan Mhavir wildlife sanctuary by giving a small entry fee, now this entry fee will also give you access to the other places in the sanctuary where there are some mesmerising waterfalls and you will also fall in love with view around the sanctuary.

The people here are so welcoming and helpful when it comes to seeking help with the directions or general questions like what is there around to see.

The flower before the actual strawberry grows.

The Strawberry farm is taken care by a self help group which also provides employment to the local people who cultivate them. We met a few locals and had a small talk about if we could grow these crops at home. They also gave us a sapling to take home.

This place not just grows strawberries but there are some other local produce also grown here.

A must visit I would say to the people who love strawberries 🤣 , travel enthusiasts and nature lovers.

You should visit for reasons like

  • A perfect spot for a family picnic or a friends getaway trip.
  • And the strawberries here are some 50 rupees per pack.
  • A huge believer of healthy living and supporting locally grown  produce.

Suggestions: If you are travelling specifically to visit the place, then I’d suggest you go to a combination of places on the way, and not to specifically visit only this place.

What can you visit on the way: About Seven Waterfalls and The Nanutel organic farm.

The Savri Waterfall on the way to the farms.

See you until a next adventure!
