A quick trip to Netravali, Budbudyanchi Tali Goa

Most of our unplanned trips are early in the morning and this quick trip to Budbudyanchi Tali, Netravalli was one of them.

We left for sanguem at about 8:30 in the morning, grabbed some quick snacks cum breakfast on the way.

A fact you must know, we are a bunch of crazy people put together as family and like most of the times, we did get lost finding the place. Eventually we reached at the lake and to our surprise there was nothing much around. Well everyone had some expectation of how the place would be, but all that we had was the view ahead.

How do you find Budbudyanchi Tali Goa?

The lake location is about an hour 30 min from Margao and an hour from Salcete Taluka. There are a lot of places to visit in and around the lake, the Netravalli wildlife sanctuary, spice farms and a lot more. The views and the surrounding are a perfect combination for any road trip. There are a lot of ways to reach this location but we took the easiest way for us i.e via the Rivona Road, crossing  Zambaulim and the Tilamol-Quepem Road.

Whats all the talk about this place?

When we first arrived at the lake location, there was nothing much to look forward to, but then I realised that’s the beauty of the place, the peace that the place offers. There is ample space to sit and just look around and calm your mind. The plants and trees around make you feel nostalgic. There is also a temple close to the lake known as the Gopinath temple, where the locals come to worship.

A few locals also sell snacks and beverages around for the people visiting the lake location.  As for access to the place, its right opposite to a village internal road and there is ample parking space too. During Monsoons the lake and the surrounding appear luscious and green. The lake dates back to the era of Kadams and a lot of myths associated with it, while the locals say it is a result of a miracle by the local deity, scientifically people believe the bubble is a result of gases like sulphur dioxide, carbon dioxide, limestone or methane that escape from the lake floor.

There are ample amount of small fishes that are inhabited in the lake and so many birds around the place. And the mild gushes of wind are just something that makes you feel perfectly inlined with nature.

Me exploring the place

I did try clapping my hands like a lunatic and yes the bubbles did appear, now my logic is when we clap our hands, sounds ways are generated that travel through the air medium and hit the lake boundaries that facilitates the movement of these trapped gases to the lake surface making them come out as bubbles. I do remember my physics teachers giving this explanation when we had visited this place for a college trip long back.

Until another unplanned quick trip, follow all safety precautions when travelling please, until the vaccine arrives this is bound to be the new normal.

Stay safe, stay out of trouble.
