A trip from nine to wine – Sula Vineyards

I have spent most of  my childhood and teenage years watching Fox traveler and TLC.

Travelling and food has always given me an adrenaline rush.

I love watching wine tasting sessions, cheese making and all food related production especially in remote locations.

It has always been so exciting to watch these things as well as travel to places like these. I had heard a lot about this wine brewery located in Nashik. It’s famous for its grape produce and a popular festival known as the Sula Fest that happens in the first weekend of February at Sula Vineyards annually.

How did this sudden trip take place?

I always had visiting this place in my bucket list and here it is finally into action.Randomly my mom decided to book flight tickets and experience was both exciting and dreadful at the same time.

Heights and closed spaces have always been my fear.

Always wanted a airplane wing picture.

Took the weekend off from work and there it was my first time traveling via flight. To explain the feeling, it didn’t feel like my first time, strangely. We reached Mumbai in about an hour and woke up the next morning and decided to go to Sula Vineyards.

Just like that, what a sudden decision, you know!

The journey to the Vineyards:

I booked the cab from Ola and the price was quite good for a travel of 3 hours on-road. I wouldn’t say the weather was at its best as it was raining too heavily. It takes about 3 hours from Mumbai to Nasik and further to The vineyards.

This journey has turned out to be one of my most favourite now. Wondering what’s so special? Just clean roads, green mountains, rainy foggy weather and fresh air to breathe.

Our driver Mr.Ashok was pretty cool and he has his driving skills on point. We spoke about how Ola functions and about he’s journey being a driver for nearly 20 years. People and their stories always are so fascinating, isn’t it?

About Sula Vineyard’s

When we reached the vineyards, it had a long stretch of vineyards which went straight up to the main reception area. There were these bright vibrant looking roses that looked so pretty with the vineyards.

At the main reception we had to pay a registration of 200 rupees per person and that would be our minimum currency  inside the vineyards.

We looked around the place and it was such a blissful. peaceful and luxurious sight.

The restaurants here are faced towards the vineyards, making sure you have a yummy meal with a view.

There are these rustic looking corners and walls either painted or with creepers and other plants .

Beautiful artwork all through the vineyards.

About the two sessions

The vineyard tour : 200 per person,

followed by the wine task : 400 per person for about 6 wines.

The tour included the history of the place and how the whole process of wine making takes place that lasted about 20 minutes. Later we were taken for wine tasting. After 3 wines down, I lost it, but I knew I can control my brain 🤣 and I managed to not let the alcohol take over me.

The famous red wine from Sula vineyards.

It was a lovely session because this was always in my wishlist. We were so drunk, ended up buying 2 bottles of wine and a cold pressed grape oil. Even if I am drunk, I can sense and spot  healthy stuff from quite a distance. I was so fancied by the glasses that I ended up purchasing one.(Typical me ).

I could buy the whole range of wines from here.

This trip was fun, random, unplanned and one of my  best trips till date.

The place  is pretty expensive in terms of the food and the touring sessions.

Preferably you must visit Sula Vineyards in the produce month which is from January to late February.

Dont i look like batwoman?
